Balloons Aloft!

Every year on Balloons Aloft day, the elementary school kids in Albuquerque see up close a balloon crew prepare their balloon for flight across the city. Every elementary school has a balloon take flight from their school grounds and everyone in Albuquerque knows what that means: it's Balloon Fiesta time in the city.

For nine days in October each year, Sylvia and I sit on our back deck and watch over 500 balloons take off and fill the sky. This morning, we attended Balloons Aloft at our church's school. A beautiful morning with the kids running and jumping with excitement as the crew prepared the hot air balloon for flight. The kids' energy was infectious, and their joy made for a fun early morning.

The first ascension for Balloon Fiesta 2026 will take place tomorrow morning. Yup, I'll be on our back deck with a hot coffee to enjoy the view.
