A Hail Of A Good Day
I was up on Rainy Mountain today with Steve. Yup, we were fishing of course. It was a beautiful day right up to about 1:00pm when the clouds opened with a downpour of rain and hail. There were times we couldn't see twenty yards as it was coming down so heavy. That's okay, we had a great morning of fishing in cool temps with cloud cover. It was good see Steve again and fly fish one of our favorite places in New Mexico.
While the fish weren't overly active, we each caught several brown trout that made it a satisfying adventure. When we had to stop fishing the backcountry, I searched for another steam to float a fly, but no luck...it was raining all over the mountain. So we kept rolling down the road to go relax in a nice restaurant for an early dinner.
The forecast looks the same for the next few days throughout the area, so we'll fish the mornings and hope for a bit of reprieve in the afternoons. Maybe we'll get lucky.
