Hardy 1912 Perfect Reel

Through the years, I've been lucky to win some nice prizes at our annual New Mexico Trout Conclave. A couple of bamboo rods in addition to miscellaneous tackle were fun wins through the past few years. For sure. And this year? Yeah, I won a prize again. Without a doubt, my most exciting trout conclave win ever! A brand new Hardy Perfect 1912 fly reel. Wow!!!

It's a hand-built reel by the master craftsmen in Alnwick, England. What's more, it's the Trout Unlimited 1912 Perfect model, with a Limited Edition of just 100 individually numbered reels featuring a green agate line guide. My reel is the #001 reel in the 100 limited production run. These impressive reels are built on the classic narrow-spool Perfect design with the celebrated 1912 check mechanism. They are machined from solid bar-stock aluminum, finished in a deep anodized two-tone, and supplied in a handsome presentation package. The aesthetics are as handsome as one could find in a reel today.

That green agate guide on the reel just screams for a Winston fly rod! The reel paired with a traditional Winston rod will be a classy bit of kit on the stream...
