Blog Focused

First off, thank you to everyone who clicks into the blog from time to time. Appreciate you much! Just a short note that I have been gradually dropping off of various fly fishing forums, and plan to focus on the dryflynm blog going forward. I'm trying to use my time more productively. Also, I got to the point where my membership on various fly fishing forums was becoming more of a frustration than actually learning anything, as opposed to several years ago when those forums were fresh and new. So, if you don't see any posts and replies from me on those other sites, that's the reason...MKA has logged off and left their building. However, I'm still here creating content, and will be as long as I can wade into a trout stream.

Winters are usually all about fly fishing tackle on dryflynm, for the obvious reasons. However, Mother Nature is beginning to give us a few clues that Spring is on her way, and that means fly fishing posts will be returning to the blog before too long...including the usual tackle topics. Yes! I'm so ready for fly fishing to begin this year! Get outdoors. Breathe mountain air. Float a dry fly. Yup, life is good!

Best regards - Mike Adair

Hi Mike, I love your blog but already miss your content on FFF. Nice to know you are fine. Why do you use the WF-version of LightLine instead DT? Did you find out any difference between the two for your circumstances?

    1. Hi Marco, and thank you! The majority of creeks I fish that LightLine WF line rarely require a cast over 40 feet. That's not long enough to experience a difference between a DT or WF line in my fly fishing observations. And, the WF fits better in the smaller diameter fly reels I use on my creek rods. Sorry to drop off the FFF site, but I need to find time for other priorities at the moment. Appreciate your comments, and I hope the blog continues to bring you back for a peek. Of note, this is just a fun blog and is not revenue generating by any means. I'm retired and this satisfies a creative need in me. Hope you're doing good and ready for spring fishing!!!

    2. Hi Mike, thank you for your reply. I have to wait another 4 weeks to start new season.
Why and when do you prefer the Winston Trout Energy line on some of your rods? The line is kind of hard to get here but I would like to test it if there is any good reason.

  3. Marco, at least the new season is close there. I like to use the Energy line on my Winston boron rods, and my Scott 773 because they do feel like a good pairing to me when casting. And, I will also use it instead of the LightLine on my 2wt and 3wt IM6/WT rods when I want the rod to load a tiny bit easier when fishing tight stream environments.
