Winston WT 7' 2wt
This rod was designed for casting to smaller trout in small streams and creeks, and it is very capable of making gentle, and accurate presentations to paranoid trout. The rod's tip has a flex and action you find with Winston WT fly rods, and performs like no other brand in regard to a tight line fight. It's rare I lose a trout while bringing him to my landing net...thanks to that magic tip!
This WT 7' 2wt rod is absolutely perfect for my mountain Rio’s. It’s a very versatile model for tiny mountain streams because it will handle both 2wt and 3wt fly lines for fine-tuning how it loads a line in the backcasts for diverse environments. I’ll rig it up with a 2wt line for the more open creeks where I have room to casts from 10 to 35 feet. I’ll over line it with a 3wt line for those tight, canopied creeks that cascade down the side of my mountains. The rod's action is progressive, smooth, and a joy to cast with both of those lines.
I've said it before on this blog, and I still believe this rod is the best all time 7' 2wt model designed to date. Yes, it’s that good. Also, a very practical rod due to its 7’ length, capable of fishing anywhere on my mountain Rio’s where wild trout swim and play. Oh man, this rod has been to some beautiful places!
