Trout Roads - 2025

I love road trips. Especially when they are taking me to a fly fishing adventure somewhere in the southwest. A two-lane black top road that suddenly becomes a rocky, dirt road is the best of them all. And, roads climbing ever higher in altitude are a thrill because they end at some of the best backcountry trout streams any angler would dream of fishing.

And, yeah, having a 4x4 comes in handy from time to time. My F150 has been pretty much a perfect fishing truck. I've slept in the camper shell for many camping adventures...climbed some "iffy" rocky roads up the side of mountains, and four-wheeled out of gullies, rock slides, mud slides, and steered through the switchbacks to high altitude streams. There is no way to know how many times I've rigged up a fly rod on its tailgate. Yup, it's a great truck!

Below are a few random photos, in no particular order, of the roads I  drove over...in route to fishing destinations in 2025.
