Favorite Photo - 2025
I have several photos that were contenders for the favorite photo selection in 2025. There's just something about the below photo that I like. That was a great fishing week with some very good memories, and is one of the reasons why I selected this shot. This was a solitary trip, right after I had achieved the New Mexico Grand Slam, and I was feeling good. I fished several streams in the area, and landed a lot of trout including rainbows, browns, and cutthroats.
The photo was taken in Colorado, on a river meandering through a beautiful valley. I rigged up a Winston WT Legacy 8'6" 5wt with a Bauer SST5 locked into the reel seat...a dry fly dream of a rod for a lazy day on the river. It's a very nice kit, and fun to cast dry flies into the feeding lanes of resident trout. I fished several streams in this area and used three classic rods from 3wt to 5wt line classes. Yup, a great week spent on very "trouty" streams. For a guy who likes to wade a stream with a classic fly rod in hand, this was a pretty special week.
