Family Time

My brother and nephew just departed for home today, after a four day visit. It was great having them stay at the house, and join me on some trout streams. Because of the floods and rains up in the northern part of the state and in Colorado, I decided to focus on home waters for our fishing outings. Yeah, even home waters were up, and murky, but they were fishable. The autumn colors are in full glory on Rainy Mountain, while the grass is turning brown. The brown trout? Well, they were in their fall colors too, but a bit lethargic since colder temperatures have arrived on the mountain.

Fishing was great. Catching was slow. I noticed some of my New Mexico friends were posting they too were finding the streams being a bit stingy with the trout the past few days. One of streams where we were floating a fly had ice on a stream side trail, and that tells me the colder temperatures were certainly one of the reasons trout were not coming out to play. Yup, slow fishing days are part of the fly fishing sport. However, I must say, we absolutely enjoyed the beauty of the canyon trails, the colors on the mountain sides, and of course those Leetle Fellers that did hit the bottom of our nets.

It was fabulous having family here, and I enjoyed sharing home waters with them!
