Dinks
The monsoon season is here and about the only thing I can count on these days is a few hours of morning fishing. I'm not complaining. It's nice to go out on a trail for a few hours in the morning when it's cool, see a fishy looking spot, sneak into position, and drop a dry fly for a natural drift. And it's rewarding when that cast pays off with a splash, and a tight line.
Rich joined me this week and it was enjoyable to be on the stream trails and casting a dry fly. It seems there are more tourists than ever in my mountains this summer. I met a nice young couple from New York City and a few families on the trail while they were enjoying their morning hike into the canyon.
With the monsoons, the streams were murky, and it was a dinky day of fishing this week. That's okay. I was fishing and you should always appreciate those opportunities. I must say, they were pretty little dinks. Let's hope they survive long enough to grow up and become what I call Leetle Fellers that can put an even bigger bend on my classic 2wt fly rod.
Gear: Winston WT 7' 2wt fly rod; Ross Colorado fly reel; Winston Energy fly line; Handy Pak landing net; Simms sling pack; Assortment of dry flies.
Always liked those WT rods for sure. The Colorado reel is superb, of course! Sounds like fun day.It also seems that I need to make another trip to NM before too long. Six years goes by too fast.
ReplyDeleteSix years is a long time...before COVID hit. Not much has changed since then and it sounds like you need to scratch the itch to get on a little Rio...yup, just do it.
