Zoom Zoom Fishing

Change it up. Get out of the rut. Have some fun. I couldn't ask for a better fishing vehicle than my F150 4x4 truck, and it's been a go anywhere blessing for over ten years. I hope to get another two years out of her. However, every time I'm driving the truck up a mountain on a twisty, two-lane road I think to myself, "it sure would be fun to come up here in the roadster to fish." So, I did it a couple of times in May to combine sports car zoom zoom and fly fishing. The two passions of mine go together better than anticipated. Actually, it was quite fantastic!

Folding down the top and running through all five gears (manual) on the mountain roads makes for a great fishing day! Talk about feeling alive. And, taking a corner a bit too briskly with some wind in my face was some good therapy, indeed. Did I take her on the forestry roads? Oh no, I wouldn't do that. However, there are plenty of places to fish where I don't have to get off of a paved surface. An advertising slogan BMW used when marketing the Z3 in 1999 was, "Happiness Isn't Around the Corner, It Is the Corner."

And, yeah, I'm still playing cassette tapes in the roadster...it was the standard BMW Business stereo in 1999 and I've enjoyed that analog sound on each drive since. Also, there's no back up camera, no idiot light for what gear I'm in, and no powered convertible top. I special ordered my Z3 from the BMW Ft. Walton Beach Dealer to insure it's just the way a true roadster should be...nothing but the basic essentials. What's not basic? Performance!!!

    1. Thanks, Steve...a top-down drive in this car never fails to put me in a good mood. Catching a trout is plus!
