Battle Mountain by C.J. Box

C.J. Box fans were thrilled when a new Joe Pickett novel came out this year, and Battle Mountain was an absolute page-turner! If you could finish it in one sitting, that’s a bonus.

The book has all the excitement and twists you’d expect from this series, and it brings back Nate from living in nature’s wild after his wife was tragically killed (previous book). Geronimo drove to Wyoming asking for Nate’s help to find and kill a notorious killer who, like them, was a special ops veteran. They’ve dealt with him before and regretted not killing him when they had the chance. Well, they’re determined to do the job this time…because he killed Nate’s wife and Nate wants revenge.

The governor’s son-in-law has gone missing, and he’s asked Joe Pickett to find him. And, the governor is worried that his son-in-law might have gotten into trouble while on a hunting guide job that he had encouraged him to take. Little does Joe and his long-time friend Nate know that they’re both on separate missions to hunt the same man, until the end when they’re fighting for their lives.

Yeah, I enjoyed reading a new Joe Pickett novel, and hopefully another one is in the works!
