Coming To Life
However, temperatures are warming up, and the trout are beginning to come to life in those slivers of streams running through Rainy Mountain up here in northern New Mexico. Helpful too is the hatchery stocking the streams, and it showed in the numbers of rainbow trout hitting the bottom of my landing net this week. The wild brown trout? Well, they too are getting perky and are smacking my dry flies, now that we are approaching the month of May.
Yup, the Leetle Fellers are waking up. As of this post, I now have three species of trout that have been netted this year: Gila, Brown, and Rainbow trout. Just two more to go and I can say the Grand Slam of New Mexico Trout is mine.
