Curse Those Suckers!

I drove up the mountain today to give the truck a check out after its repairs and to see if fishing is any good. Well, for dry flies that is. The answer to that is NO. I didn't see one trout, unfortunately. I actually thought it would be good fishing today considering the temperatures. But, no.

After a couple of hours I just put away my fly rod and started exploring, hiking, and checking out the streams. Such a different winter we've had that I don't know what to suspect. I did catch some unwanted sucker fish and that is the only fish I was able to see that was out and about feeding. Nope, don't ask. I'll never photograph a sucker fish. Dang it! Where are those trout?

A few streams still had some snow lining the banks, but there is no snow to speak of in view of usual years on Rainy Mountain. There were a lot of hikers on the mountain today and since fishing sucked, I was more social with them than I usually am when the fishing is good. Yup, the streams are going to become very 'skinny' in July if we don't get a good monsoon season. I'm just going with the flow this year, and do what I can to find streams with good trout fishing.
