The Last Trout

Well, the title seemed right when I typed it, but now that I read it…does it sound fatal? I’m only talking about landing the last trout in 2024. And, you know, it was a nice day despite the cold. I should revise the title to better reflect the day. Maybe not…it is factually correct. But, not quite fitting either. That's kinda how I feel about seeing 2024 fading away into the memories. It was an interesting year with all of the appliance failures, auto failures, home repairs, and the usual events each of us have in our everyday lives. Yup, life is good. Despite all the stuff, I feel blessed....beautiful wife, home, family and some really cool fly fishing gear! Haha...

Yeah, I am looking forward to the new year and all of the adventures while staying active and somewhat fit for a man of my age. It will be a good year! And, I'm excited about it! I've got some solitary fishing trips and fishing-with-friends events on a list for some adventures in the outdoors.

Trout season, hurry up and get here!

  1. That last trout is a beauty. I was able to get out and catch a few myself on the az rim. Then shortly after fishing my favorite streams up there a fire broke out at the headwaters. 3 of my favorite streams are now closed and the fire is growing. I don't know if the streams will survive.

    1. Glad to hear you got out for fly fishing. Seems our trout streams in the Southwest can't get a break from fires. Hopefully there will be some survivors...
