One More Time
For a brief moment I thought about taking with me the vintage Winston cane rod I received in the mail last week. Then I thought again about all the opportunities to hang up a fly on a back cast. Split cane isn't as forgiving as graphite in those cases and you can find yourself with a broken tip. So, another Light Trout rod, in graphite, went into the truck for the get away. A 7'6" IM6 3wt from Tom Morgan's Light Trout rod series, born in the early 90's. It's a bit tougher than Lew Stoner's cane rod. Hmmm, I wonder if Tom got the idea of calling his 2-4wt IM6 rod series, Light Trout rods, from Lew. Bet you he did!
It was nice on the mountain. Yup, I even landed some pretty little wild browns, with a dry fly of course. Actually, they were hitting my dry fly all day long. With no leaves on the trees, it was fun to be able to get into some nice fishy spots that I can't fish in the summer. So, it was like being on a new stream...and I was the only one there.
Gear: Winston IM6 7'6" 3wt fly rod (2pc); Trutta Perfetta fly reel; Rio LightLine WF3F line; Simms sling pack; Brodin landing net; #12 Black Caddis dry fly.
Streaming on the radio: Someday Soon by Judy Collins.
Someday Soon, a classic from Collins but there is a better version (IMO) from Susie Boggess. She owns that song. Have a splendid holiday.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, she is the best for sure. That has always been one of my favorite songs.
DeleteMake that Suzy Bogguss. Enjoy
