IM6 Creek Quiver
Besides the obvious nostalgic reasons for having this quiver of Winston rods, they are as close to perfect for fishing mountain creeks as I can assemble. The lengths are 6'6", 7'6", and 8' and dispersed perfectly. And, then in same order, the associated line weights in 2wt, 3wt, and 4wt configure these iconic rods for any trout environment in my high country trout streams. Truly, a special quiver of rods with historical significance, from Tom Morgan's magic taper design, that makes them the most fun any small stream angler could hope for in fly fishing. These are specialized 2-piece models for a fine tune fit within the select trout environments I enjoy fishing when up on small streams in New Mexico.
All three of these rods were built when Winston sourced their blanks from the Loomis company. As a result, there is no way these models can be reproduced exactly the same way. Well, I don't think they can. So you know, I like every bit as much my Winston WT rods (same rod, different name) with the same tapers as the IM6 rods, but manufactured in house with different epoxies and materials. So, these IM6 rods 'are it' and there will be nothing built like them again. Yup, they have some kind of special sauce. You can bet I am very mindful of that fact when I'm fishing with them.
