Abel Customer Service - Thank You!

For about a year now, I have been concerned about a special reel of mine....an Abel TR2 reel that I purchased from Steve Abel many years ago. The spring had weakened and needed replacement. Actually, I thought it may not be possible to get a replacement because of the reel's age. This reel is so cool and I have loved fishing it in my New Mexico streams...it would have been a shame if it couldn't be restored to original condition.

For some reason, I procrastinated with contacting Abel regarding a replacement spring. Then one day last week, I was working on a blog story when suddenly, I decided to send an email to Abel Reels and see if I could purchase a new spring for this old TR2 reel. Next day, I received a reply from the department manager requesting my address, along with her message that she would send me a replacement spring at no cost. I was both relieved and thrilled to learn I could restore my reel to its original condition and performance. Yup, I've always been a fan of Abel Reels, but now even more!

So, here's some major props to the service manager and employees at Abel Reels...thank you, so very much!

  1. Isn't a wonder when a company actually provides great service? Companies like LL Bean, Orvis seem to still pride themselves on delivering outstanding customer service. You might pay extra but it is worth it in the long run. Abel not only made you happy but if more people knew about your experience, would get more customers. Good for you and good for Abel!!!

    1. I was surprised they keep in stock a pawl spring for a reel that's been out of production for many years. The service manager was very nice to work with and very helpful...
