This Blog of Mine
When I post a story, some may not notice that it gets edited slightly, over the course of a few days after initial publish. Why? Well, I don't have an editor working for me like I once had and appreciated during my work career. So, after a story goes live, I notice errors and wording I want to correct or change. Yeah, I sometimes 'word smith' a story for a few days after publishing a post. When you see an error, it could be from one of three reasons: 1) I simply made an error; 2) Auto spell check kicked in; 3) Or, it's intentional and I'm messing with someone. It's just a blog so I don't really worry too much about the errors, actually.
The DryFlyNM blog has surprised me in a few ways. I'm humbled by the number of people and views with each new post I publish. This Google Blogger platform keeps the viewers anonymous, so I don't know the identity of who accesses the site. Google does however give me a report of how many views per posts and the viewer's country of origin. So, I know the total views from each country around the globe. And please know, I do appreciate your interest in my little life of fly fishing, even though I don't know who you are. Thank you!
Another pleasant surprise for me is just how many people 'get it' when it comes to reason's why they fly fish. It's about getting outdoors. Enjoying the environment of the wild. Walking a trail alongside a trout stream. The excitement of a trout taking a dry fly. The sweetness of clean mountain air when waking up at the campsite. Yup, it's all about being in the moment during your outdoor adventure.
So, yes, there also is a lot of content about fly gear on my blog. Mostly, classic fly gear. And, the huge number of people that enjoy fishing the older gear is another pleasant surprise for me. More and more of our angling community of people have stopped chasing the latest and greatest fly gear, with so-called new technology and claims that it will improve your fly fishing. Nope, fishing is fishing and the older gear works just fine...often certain trout environments are better with classic gear than the high-tech gear as touted by marketing teams. Remember, I'm talking about small stream fishing, mostly.
So, as long as I'm fishing, there will be this blog and it's stories of fly fishing. When you see this blog stop posting stories, well, then you'll know...
