Almost Prime Time
I was out on some trout streams today with two of my fishing buddies. Neal, Rich, and I went up the mountain to fish some nice trout streams under a perfect sky (cloudy) for fly fishing. We netted both rainbows and browns in water conditions that I would say is, "almost prime time" at this moment. Yeah, the water was a bit high, fast, and murky. However, it was good enough that the trout would rise to my dry flies and I call that a good day. The streams should be 'spot on' perfect for fly fishing in another week or two.
Based on fishing activity today, the year is shaping up to be fabulous for those who enjoy fly fishing on mountain Rios. The wild browns survived the winter's freezing weather and look very healthy, indeed. And, the population seems to be better (lots of trout) than average from this angler's assessment.
