Out Of Range by CJ Box
This fifth book, Out of Range, introduces us to Jackson Hole and begins with the death, by apparent suicide of the game warden, Will Jensen. With that shocking and sudden vacancy, the department supervisor has asked Joe to fill in for a few weeks, to get them through hunting season, in the largest and busiest district in Wyoming. Once there, Joe begins to sense Will's death wasn't a suicide and begins to ask questions. The local sherif is not pleased with Joe questioning individuals with a case that was closed and considered an obvious suicide. There are many high profile and wealthy characters living in Jackson Hole creating high stress due to business pursuits in conflict with Wyoming's wildlife policies. It's a good read, and best of all, it takes you into some of the most beautiful country in America.
CAUTION: If you read one book in the Joe Picket novel series, you'll read all of them. And, there are 24 books in the series. It's truly best to start with the first book, Open Season.
I have read them all. They ALL are great books. Also- catch the 2 year Joe Pickett series that was on HBO. It is out on dvd. Great stuff. CJ Box has also wrote books with his other lead characters. They are all great reads.
ReplyDeleteThe lead characters are perfect for the story line...these books are hard to put down once you start one of them. I'm thinking, this series should help me get through the spring runoff without getting bored...
DeleteI just started Box's latest book, Three Inch Teeth. It is a terrific read. Highly recommended.
ReplyDeleteThanks, John...I'll put it on my 'to read' list.
