Making The Cut

After completing technical training at Sheppard AFB in Texas, I was issued a Camillus knife. It came in handy for this air cargo specialist. However, I have found it also has been quite nice to keep with me through a lifetime of camping on streams and lakes. This Camillus makes for a fabulous camp knife and holds a permanent spot in my small tool bag.

Camillus 1760 models were made from 1957 until 2006 and mine is stamped 1970 on the tine of the blade. The year I started my military duty. The knife is all stainless steel and has the essential blades you expect to see in a utility knife...includes a blade, can opener, flat-head screw driver, leather punch, and bottle opener. Yeah, that bottle opener has opened a bunch of long necks while camping and fishing through the years.

For sure, this knife will continue to go along for the ride (as always) to camping and fishing adventures in 2024.
