GALVAN OB-2 FLY REEL IN GREEN - This fabulous reel was a gift to me from my neighbor and fishing buddy when he retired from fishing. I tell ya, this reel has some good history and memories on our home waters! Brian had this reel locked into a Sage DS 7'6" 4wt rod and it makes for a great kit on the mountain Rios. I know because I've fished it more than a few times on those waters...still do!

The Galvan Open Back reel series set the standard when it popularized the large arbor craze back in 1999, the year this model was introduced. It's fully machined in the U.S. out of bar stock aluminum, with a quick-release, counter balanced spool that requires no tools to change. And, the incredibly smooth Ertalyte disc drag is a unique, heat and wear-resistant thermoplastic and stainless steel system. 

This reel incorporates a large arbor for a few reasons. First, the large diameter dramatically increases retrieve speed...and, drag tension remains almost constant as more line is pulled from the reel, thus reducing the chances of breaking off an angry, wild trout. Finally, line is stored in bigger loops, thus reducing the line coil memory and those annoying loops that come off near the bottom of a conventional spool. Spooled up on this reel is an Orvis Wonderline WF4F fly line. Yep, it's just a fantastic reel to have locked into a rod...
