Figure Study - By Salvatore "Sal" Giglio
I met Salvatore "Sal" Giglio around 2003 when I moved to New Mexico from New Orleans, Louisiana. While I was a human resources professional through most of my career, I did have a brief early career as an illustrator and art manager in the graphic arts industry...and as such, found Sal interesting and an amazingly talented artist. We had that common experience in the commercial art field, although his was at a level I could only dream of. He was a master of art and was very successful in New York City and New Mexico. Yeah, I enjoyed visiting with him at the Sage Fine Art Gallery each time I found myself in the quaint little plaza of Taos.
Sal passed away in 2019 and I sure do miss going into the gallery and talking shop with him. He was a kind gentleman and always made people feel welcome in the gallery. Besides being a founding member of the Sage Fine Art Gallery, Sal was also a member of the Taos Society of Portrait Artist and the Taos Watercolor Society.
I'm happy to feature another one of his pieces of art on the blog. A simple figure study that hangs in my home office. Yes, I purchased this piece personally from Sal himself, at the gallery...such good memories of those days.
