Chilly, Cloudy, and Trouty
Neal and I traveled last Wednesday up to a little trout stream, set in a beautiful setting. It first flows through a meadow and then through a canyon with rock walls climbing straight up to the sky. Just a beautiful place, even if one is not fishing. But we were fishing. Fly fishing. Neal was drifting a nymph, and I was drifting a dry fly. You know what? We both had a great day and caught enough little guys to be happy.
Actually, this was one of those days that I really didn't care if I even caught a fish. A couple of times we had sprinkles of rain that created a melancholy mood in the canyon. However, the rain was light enough that we kept fishing. It was just a nice day being outdoors with a good friend, hiking down a trail, and then occasionally approaching the stream with a cast to a "trouty" looking piece of water. Yes, every now and then a splash would cover the fly and the line would go tight...
