Fly Lines
Winston Energy - this line is about a half size heavy and works great with my 7' Winston WT 3wt and 2wt fly rods. These creek rods need to load easily in those tight little creeks and Rios...and, this line helps to load these rods perfectly for those short casts that need to land a dry fly softly in water.
Rio LightLine - my favorite fly line to use with classic Winston rods. This true-to-weight line is a fabulous small creek fly line. And, I can combine this line with most of my 3wt and 4wt rods. The line can easily cast a tight loop when needed and is perfect for small freestone streams where accuracy is needed to lightly drop a fly into a tiny pocket of water. My Winston TMF 4wt rod is a perfect marriage to this line, as are any Winston WT model I fish.
Rio Perception - this line is dedicated to my fast rods that are fished on medium to large rivers. All of my Sage ONE rods are paired with this line and are a great combination when the environment calls for long casts to reach a feeding lane with a dry fly. Interestingly, I have also found this line works quite well on my Scott 773 on mountain creeks.
AirFlo SuperDri Elite - this line is dedicated to my Winston 8'6" and 9' rods in 4wt and 5wt lines. I fish this line with the longer rods on medium to large trout rivers. It floats high in the water and is easy to mend. This line gets mostly rigged up with my Winston BIIt 8'6" 4wt and 9' 5wt rods...a nice combination.
Orvis Wonderline - this line has dedicated use with my 3wt bamboo creek rods. The true-to-weight line loads these tiny slithers of bamboo just perfectly on my little mountain Rios, and sets down a dry fly with a delicacy needed for spooky trout.
