Top Fly - 2022

There are six dry flies that seem to work on my home waters year after year. I do fish a much broader selection of flies than six, but I can count pretty much on the same six flies for fooling trout on these streams. However, each year, there is one fly that stands out from the rest. Last year it was the Black Flying Ant and this year the "top fly" that worked its magic was the black Elk's Hair dry fly. I keep my most productive dry flies in three sizes: #12, #14, and #16.

I wonder what the top fly for 2023 will be? Looking forward to discovering that magic fly for next year!
