A Drag Free Drift

Yeah, presentation is everything. And, nothing helps you catch fish more than a drag free drift. And, dropping a dry fly on the right spot to drift it over a trouts nose. And, having the right fly on your line that trout are hungry for. And....well, I'll stop right there before the list gets too long.

I checked the weather forecast last night and it looked pretty good for fishing today. So, I sent Rich a text to see if he was interested in fishing. Yep, he was. We went up to Rainy Mountain about mid-morning to try our luck on a little mountain Rio and discovered the fish got more active as the day slipped into the afternoon. We got into several little wild browns and had a nice relaxing day of fishing. Turned out to be a beautiful day. Funny thing about trout. You never know for sure when they want to come out and play...today they did.

Gear: Winston IM6 7'6" 3wt fly rod; Bauer SST3 reel; Rio LightLine fly line; #12 Parachute Adams dry fly (same fly all day).

    1. The mornings were colder than when you were here, but the afternoons got up into the 60's which helped with the trout being a little more active. It was one of those lazy fishing days...
