A Soggy Day
It was a wet day for fishing...even the arroyos that are normally dry had running water today. That's okay, I got a few hours of sloshing around a couple of Rios and brought a few browns to the net as my reward. I enjoyed the day much because I had my streams to myself and it was very quiet and peaceful where I was floating a dry fly.
At the first of the month, I started my annual 30 day detox. Basically it means no caffeine, alcohol, sugar, and low carbs with plenty of protein. I've been doing this for over fifteen years and find it very satisfying to hit the goal each year. After the 30 days, it kind of gets me back to eating healthier...for a while, anyway. And yeah, I do lose some pounds over the course of the month which is a good thing too.
Anyway, my time spent fishing helps me not to think about what I'm giving up. Something about tight lines with trout makes you focus on that moment and nothing else. It was a good day before the rains came and I netted a few little beauties.
