Frisky Browns
Oh man, what a day! And, I almost didn't go fishing today. When I woke up this morning, I was waffling on whether to go fishing or not. I was enjoying my coffee and the house this morning. However, my wife encouraged me to go and take advantage of these last few days of nice weather this year. Thank you, darln!!!!
The brown trout were out and playing today in one of my favorite Rio's...spawning is definitely going on. I spent quite a bit of time just standing in some sections of the stream and watching the dudes spreading their magic on their sweetie’s bed. Each time I came up on some swirling and splashing action over an area, I knew what was going on there. After enjoying the show for a while, I would leave the stream and walk a wide swath of stream side trail before re-entering the stream. I'm hoping other anglers do the same...the next generation of trout are important!!!!
I caught quite a few of those beautiful little wild browns in the 10" to 12" range...a fabulous day in the outdoors. So thankful....
Gear: Scott GS773 fly rod; Sage Click fly reel; #12 Royal Wulff, #12 flying ant...that was the magic!
Wow mike that's awesome. I just did the same thing. Watched browns making redds. Tails up out of the water and pushing stones with their nose. Love fall browns.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe the large tails, half out of water, swirling around in a circle. Sylvia showed me your FB photos...beautiful. Looked like you had a great fishing trip. I agree, fall browns are fabulous!!!
