Secret Agent Man
The cover of Guns&Ammo magazine caught my eye as I was shopping in the big outdoor store this week. It was the photo of the iconic PPK/s that made me stop and put it in the basket. The article is one of the better written pieces on the PPK/s I've seen in some time and pretty much aligns with my experiences with this gun.
No, I'm not a secret agent man but I have been a fan of 007 since I was a young boy. I became a fan when I started reading Ian Fleming's books in the early sixties and have been watching James Bond movies since. His PPK is one of the most recognizable guns there is and of course James Bond fans want to own one.
I have two PPK/s guns in 22LR and 380. The 22LR is a blast for target practice on the range. The 22 ammo is cheap and there is hardly a kick when fired. I don't know why, but my 22 is more comfortable to hold in the hand than my 380? Maybe it's because the 22 was made in Germany and the 380 manufactured here in the USA. These are fun guns to shoot at the range and if you get a chance, try one out.
After I finished reading the magazine article I thought it would be fun to go back read Fleming's books again...downloaded a couple of books this morning and will start reading The Spy Who Loved Me tonight...
I always loved the ppk. You can always tell a james bond fan or gun enthusiast when you mention the walther ppk. Do you have any of the pp's?
ReplyDeleteNo PP's...had a chance to buy one a couple years ago but passed on the opportunity. I kind of regret not picking it up. Those are a nice size....
