Mountain Vacay - 2

This is only my second fishing trip due to various reasons this year, but I plan to catch up as the year goes by. Sylvia and I had a relaxing early morning with coffee and breakfast today. The views are so beautiful up on this mountain...no motivation to be in a hurry for anything.

We got to the stream around mid morning with perfect weather for fishing...low seventies and partly cloudy. I caught a pretty brown trout on my first cast. Sylvia parked her camp chair stream side to read her book while I fished the morning away. I had tight lines with several trout, both browns and rainbows.

After a picnic lunch we got in the truck and drove to a different stream. The clouds grew dark with a little rain at times which is weather I like to fish in...and then it happened. As I was walking along the bank, I began to feel little shocks in my feet. Intent on catching a fish, I didn’t think much about it at first. Kept feeling the little shocks in the feet and it got my attention when touching any metal part on the rod gave me a little shock with a popping sound. Yep, electrified air...l made it back to the truck quick and that ended the day of fishing.

With those rainbows I caught this morning, I now have three trout species for the year: Gila; Brown; and Rainbow trout. I just need a brook and RG cutt to get my New Mexico grand slam. I’d like that to happen soon...

    1. I never experienced that before...there wasn't any lightening when I started. But after getting shocked every time I touched my rod and heading back to the truck, big booming thunder started...I may have gotten lucky.
