Click and Pawl

Truth is, most trout streams I fish don't require a reel with a strong drag...or any drag for that matter. A click and pawl reel is more than enough drag for the little trout that swim there. If I do happen to hook a bigger than expected trout, I can simply palm the spool rim for additional control. Been doing it that way for years, and it's an instinctive reaction at this point.

This year, I'll be trying out a new kind of click and pawl reel, the Sage Click. Not a true click and pawl in the traditional sense, but still yet a clicker reel. I haven't had a chance to fish it, but I'll post updates once I have some stream time with the reel. I think I'm going to like it...

For me, fishing a mountain creek with an ultra-light rod and clicker reel is as good as it can get. And on occasion, I'll wade into larger streams with a click and pawl reel too.

Thought cloud: "Why doesn't Bauer make a click and pawl reel?" It seems odd that they don't because Winston makes such amazing lightweight rods for little creeks. Maybe someday?
