Reel Seats

You can tell it's winter because most posts are fly fishing gear related. The fishing posts will resume in the spring. In the meantime though, here you go...

My favorite reel seat happens to be on a classic Winston (feature photo). Winston no longer offers a downlocking reel seat as an option, so the only way to get one at this time is to build your own rod or acquire an older rod on the second hand market. My view...a fly rod with a downlocking reel seat is a classic build and just looks right with the fly reel sitting back at the butt cap of the rod (to my eye anyway).
